Getting to know me

    My name is Joan Everitt and I am probably just like you; a small business person.  I worked as an in house bookkeeper over the years for other organizations.  I liked my jobs and the people I worked for but I came to a point in my life where I needed some more flexibility.  As I entered this new chapter of my life I ventured out and started my own bookkeeping business in 2017.  It is 90 percent virtual, which gives me the flexibility I need.  I do try to get to my monthly client's places of business once a month or 1 or 2 times a year depending on where they are located!  Which means I also get to travel which to me is a bonus!

 

    I enjoy the basic entering of transactions, tracking, and reporting of financials for business.  But with delving deeper into bookkeeping I have found I enjoy setting up a software file and teaching basic software use even more!  This helps my clients learn how to navigate their books and track things themselves.

    I  believe a bookkeeping relationship is a good one when business person and bookkeeper know a little more than just business about each other.  This is something I look for in a client as well.  You are trusting a bookkeeper with your business financial information so I need you to see who I am as an all-around person!  In the same way I like to know more about my clients to build trust and work together with ease.  Now for a little bit about me as a person.....

• I am a wife

• I am a mother and grandmother

• I have 4 kids and 2 grandkids with a 3rd due in January 

• We have 3 dogs and a cat 

• Family is everything to me 

• I don't like to sit still for too long

• I love most animals except mice and snakes...spiders are not my fave but not like the other two...

• I like to read but I don't do that much actual reading anymore because in my older age I fall asleep...so my solution is to listen to some books on audible 

• I spin fiber...with a spinning wheel ...like Rapunzel...which is a hobby I do just for me

• I love Amazon

• I live in the countryside but could very easily live in and enjoy city life too

• I love bookkeeping and had worked for other businesses in - house off and on as  I raised my children for the past 20 years  

• I was a foster parent for a few years and adopted 2 older teens. One being my youngest daughter and the other left and caused or family a struggle that we got through( I would not have done things differently)  you can learn so much from struggle and grow stronger! 

• I loved being a foster parent...don't think I would ever adopt again ...never say never though! 

• I lost my Dad recently to Pancreatic Cancer...If I had not started my own business I would not have so easily been able to help with his care at the end of his life here on earth!
